Educational Workshops Available Locally in your Area

There are several different workshops available to your group.  Protected Tomorrows Advocates will present a custom workshop for your families who have a loved one with special needs.  All presentations and workshops may be customized to meet the needs of your family group or organization. 

Two hour presentation – Bringing you Protected Tomorrows®:  Creating the Future Care Plan for Family Members with Special Needs

As family members of a person with a disability, we so often tend to view life in light of the challenges presented to us.  Bringing You Protected Tomorrows:  Creating the Future Care Plan™ for Family Members with Special Needs looks at our lives in a whole new light, as our Protected Tomorrows’ passionate team of professionals all have a personal connection to the special needs community.  They understand the concerns of families firsthand.  It motivates them to continuously identify, design and implement solutions to life planning, bringing peace of mind to families about the years ahead for their loved one.

The presentation will be uplifting and entertaining, as well as provide a good basic understanding of some important facts.  The Protected Tomorrows presentation is an interactive workshop which provides a good basic understanding of important facts, such as how to apply for government benefits such as SSI, SSDI, Medicare, and Medicaid.  The presentation also reviews in an uncomplicated manner how to prepare financially, and how to have your family’s wills and trusts set up so as not to disqualify your loved one for benefits in the future.  Finally, and most importantly, the topic of family communication is covered in a fun yet serious manner.

This presentation may be customized for 60 minutes or 90 minutes time frames based upon your organization’s needs or your family group’s needs. 

Full Day Family Workshops
This workshop is an all day event.  The local Protected Tomorrows Advocate will present the Bringing you Protected Tomorrows:  Creating the Future Care Plan™ for Family Members with Special Needs speech and then walk the family through our 8 step process, called The Process for Protected Tomorrows..  There are eight separate areas covered:

• Taking an honest look at your dreams, goals, fears, and family life as it is today
• Designing a Future Care Plan to include what the family wants for their individual with special needs and then working through the items on the list to give the family an estimate of how much it would cost to fund their loved ones future
• Reviewing legal options such as special needs trusts, guardianship, etc.
• Reviewing Government benefits – what is your family member entitled to receive
• Discussing family communication and preparing a document to share with them.
• Transition planning for your loved one
• Reviewing funding options on how the family may fund their loved one’s future
• Taking a look back at what the family has accomplished and what the family still needs to do to make their dreams and goals a reality.

This is an interactive workshop where the attendees work on their goals and then interact with other attendees, discussing their thoughts and concerns.  The interaction  allows attendees to explore ideas in new and creative ways.
