Welcome Kathleen to
Protected Tomorrows TODAY™
This Week at Protected
Tomorrows®Note from the Founder of Protected Tomorrows,
Mary Anne Ehlert: This has been a busy summer so
far. I have spent much of June and July traveling to
the many conferences which provide valuable information and
support to families of individuals with disabilities.
A few that I have attended were the Family Café Conference
in Orlando, the Spina Bifida National Conference in
Tucson, the NAMI Convention in Orlando, the 5pMinus National
Meeting in Norfolk, and I will be spending time at the
International Rehab Congress in Quebec City. Why do I
attend all of these and more? I find that families get
their information from other families, and families get much
of their information at these conferences. It is
passed along by word of mouth. Our goal is to provide a
mechanism to share this information with all families.
We have found that the internet is a wonderful tool to share
this information so we at Protected Tomorrows are gathering
everything we can and putting it online; in this way all
families will have access to it. This issue explains
our new internet initiative, Protected Tomorrows
LIVE!, with the hope that families,
professionals and organizations will load their information
onto our site. In this way, all families have access
to the wonderful resources available out there in this big
world of ours.

Protected Tomorrows LIVE!
– The Special Needs Online DirectoryHow often
have you needed information that pertained to specific
special needs, such as a camp, a residential setting, a
doctor, a technology device, or a respite resource?
Did you call your friends, your doctor? How did you
find the information? What if you could go to ONE
source online and find what you needed?
On the Protected
Tomorrows website, at www.protectedtomorrows.com,
we are building such a national resource.
You can find the directory by clicking on PTLIVE!
in the upper right hand corner of the website, or on any of
the buttons throughout the site, labeled Protected Tomorrows LIVE!
Special Needs Directory.
Look
Up Resources
You can look up information by
category and subcategory. And you can then find
those resources in your area, by doing a refined zip code
search.
Rate the
Resources
If you see a resource on the site
that you know and want to let others know your experience,
rate it. We encourage you to do this. There is a
rating system of 1 through 10 that allows you to indicate
the value of the service to you. You can even offer a
written review of the resource. This will help other
families know that the resource is not only available but
something they might consider.
Add New
Resources for Others to Find
If you have
information you want to share, please feel free to add
it. You will need to click on “Login/Register”,
and sign up to be able to add new information. If you
know of a great resource and don’t find it on PTLIVE!,
please register and then load the information. It is
very simple. If you know of a person or organization
that should be listed on the website, forward this email to
them, and let them know they can add themselves to this
site.
Let Others Know about Protected
Tomorrows LIVE!
The more families and
professionals that hear about this resource, the more
information will be added. Instead of waiting for
others to tell you about this information, you will have
access to resources from people all over the
world.
We recognize that it will
take us time to get the word out, but we believe the special
needs community is a very giving community. They love
to share excellent resources, and therefore this is a
perfect mechanism to use. Not only are the resources
available, but a rating and review as to how others felt
about the resource are available as well.
Let
Us Know about What YOU Think
If you have any
questions or comments on the use of the site, feel free to
send us an email at the Contact
Us section of www.protectedtomorrows.com.
We are looking to be the premier resource for families so
that everyone gets the help they need. Your feedback
is valuable to our ability to share the information and make
the site the best it can be.
Our goal at Protected
Tomorrows is for families with special needs to live safe
and fulfilling lives. We hope that Protected Tomorrows
LIVE! is another step in that
direction. Let us hear from you.
