Attorneys for Children represents children with special needs and advocates on their behalf for special education services. Attorneys for Children provides legal representation of children in connection with special education needs, pediatric personal injury and malpractice, guardianship, and custody issues.

Steven defends the rights of students and parents in all types of school cases including student discipline, special education, zero-tolerance violatons and residency issues. In special education cases, Steven will make sure that the local school district follows all of the requirements of state and federal law. If the district fails to comply with the law, or if the district does not provide proper services to the student and the family,Steven will seek an administrative or judicial hearing to enforce those rights.

The Special Ed Advocacy Center (SEAC) provides free legal services to low-income parents and caregivers of children with disabilities seeking to obtain appropriate educational services for their children provided under current law.

The Special Ed Advocacy Center (“SEAC”), established April 2004, is a non-profit, §501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization whose mission is to ensure that children with disabilities in the Chicago metropolitan area receive all appropriate educational services provided under current law. The SEAC service area includes: Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will Counties. The SEAC accomplishes its mission by providing free legal representation to low-income parents and caregivers of children with disabilities seeking to obtain appropriate educational and early intervention services for their children; educating parents and caregivers, school personnel and others through conducting programs concerning their rights and responsibilities under current special education law; and increasing public awareness and understanding of special education law.

Mike Kiser has limited his primary practice to representing Illinois special education and general education students for over eight years. He has also worked as a special education teacher, a school administrator and a school attorney. In addition to a Bachelor's Degree in English, he has earned Master’s Degrees in English education and in special education, a Doctorate in Educational Administration, and a Law Degree. Mike has the privilege and the rewards of representing children in obtaining the school assistance and services that they deserve and to which they are entitled. His greatest professional accomplishment is that, by relying on both his education and his legal expertise, he frequently persuades schools to provide children with services in excess of the schools’ legal obligations. Mike frequently provides workshops and seminars for parents, for educators, and for school board members, and he has provided services and served as a board member for a number of not-for-profit organizations.
