I just recently learned about Protected Tomorrows. Are there only specific disabilities that you provide assistance and planning for?

We can assist and provide planning for all disabilities. It might be developmental disabilities, mental illness, cognitive impairments, or aging disabilities. Each situation is different; we take time to learn about the person with the disability, their capabilities, their family, and the types of resources they might need help with.

Does Protected Tomorrows only assist families in your corporate location area?

We provide services to families nationwide. We work in person as well as via zoom or other online platforms.

I heard that you offer complimentary webinars. What kinds of topics do you cover, and if I cannot participate in the live event, will I get behind in the training?

Yes, we do offer our Protected Tomorrows Parent University classes monthly. They are free to anyone to participate. We cover a broad range of topics, from financial planning, special needs trusts, guardianship, how to take a vacation with a person with a disability, how to cope with the stress we face, how much do we need to save for our families future, and we often have sibling and parent panels to hear how families are being creative with solutions, so that we share success stories as well as struggles.

Classes are recorded and are available on our website for later viewing if you miss a class.

Questions About Our Advocate Program

I understand you have Advocates to assist families around the country. How do I find an Advocate near me?

I think I might be a good fit to be an Advocate in your program. How do I learn more? Do I have to create my own company and work alone, or do I become a member of your team? I do not want to “go it alone.”

We would love to hear your story. We look for people who can appreciate the needs of the families we work with, either through personal life experience or through specific career training. We are looking for individuals who want to become part of our team and who would become employees of Protected Tomorrows. We offer training and support as every person on our team has strict guidelines on what we do, how we do it, and the most important ingredient is compassion.

Questions About the Services Protected Tomorrows Offers

We have never used a financial planner before. We think we have planned well for our children; we have 3 children, one with a disability. We heard the phrase “Retiring for 3” at a conference you were speaking at, and we realized we cannot do this alone. We need help.

We would like to find someone who can help us with everything so that we do not drop any balls, trying to coordinate our investments, our insurance, our benefits at work, and our legal planning with our attorney. Can you help?

That is exactly how we like to work. We can help you put a plan in place, coordinate your retirement, your goals for all your children, the special needs life plan for your child with a disability, as well as work closely with your attorney and CPA. We incorporate your money management and any insurance protection you need, as well as any good financial plan that should accommodate all of this. We become your family’s go-to person for your financial peace of mind.

I am so confused. I was able to obtain SSI for my son with a disability when he turned 18. My son has not been able to work; he attends a day program. We are starting to plan for the future, and I heard on your webinar that my son may receive different disability benefits when my husband and I retire. I never heard of that. Our financial planner says that we get Social Security, but our son is not eligible for anything but SSI, as he has not worked. Can you help my family understand the benefits we are eligible for and position us to get our benefits, so that we are planning appropriately for the future?

Absolutely. We can help. We understand the benefit programs, and it is critical that you make that part of your big picture planning. Many of those benefits may enable your son to not only have more income due to his disability but also improve the medical benefits he may be entitled to. The rules can change, so you want a team that can help you stay informed.

We think we have done a good job in planning for our daughter with Down Syndrome. She is quite independent, has friends, and has a part-time job that she loves to go to. She has become eligible for Medicaid Waiver Funding, and so we are able to use those funds to support her ability to be successful. Now we are ready to retire ourselves and we want to retire closer to our family, as they will provide necessary support if something were to happen to us. And we might be able to take even a few “bucket list” trips in retirement if we know family is near to her. Can you help us think this through, regarding all of the things we need to consider?

Congratulations on helping your daughter be happy, safe, and successful. What a tremendous advocate you have been for her. Now it is your turn to start to enjoy the fruits of your labor and retirement with peace of mind. Yes, there is a lot to think about, especially since Medicaid Waiver funding is state-level funding, and you will need to think about that in regard to moving. Each state is different. And building out the work environment and friend opportunities will be important to replicate, while you build out your OWN future. We would love to be a part of those next steps in your life. We can help.

My adult daughter has a disability. She has worked off and on over the years but is unable to hold a job consistently. Someone mentioned to us that she was to be reporting any pay that she does receive, and we were not aware of that. We recently received a letter stating we now must file a reconsideration for your benefits, and they want many years of paycheck stubs. Where do we start?

Your situation, I am sure, feels daunting, but we can help. It will be a matter of gathering the information, but it is one day at a time in this situation. Let’s chat and see how we might help. Please submit as much information as you have in our secure intake form on our website, and we will schedule a call with you to see how we might help.

We have a 24-year-old son with a disability. He has been successful in obtaining a part-time job that he likes. The company has been very supportive of his growth, but they also want to understand what limitations he might have. We have had to work through his ability to add hours or struggle when a pay period is more than the 10 days he is allowed to work. Can you help us talk to his employer as to how to best help him be successful, while explaining to the company how they can best help?

Companies may not fully understand the limitations our children have regarding their capabilities, their income limitations, as well as asset limitations, so that they can continue to maintain the required benefits that allow them to be successful. We would be happy to see how we can be on his team to help make that a true joint effort.

I have a simple question. HOW DO I GET STARTED? I have tried and tried, and I find myself procrastinating in planning for my son.

We understand procrastination. The reality of planning for someone who needs us to be around for them forever is overwhelming, so it is so easy to put off. If we ask those who have worked with us in the past what we do best, their answer is, “You made us do it.” We hold your hand and help you take one step at a time. When you look back, you see progress, and it motivates you to keep going forward.

So the first step is simple. Click HERE and let’s get you started!
