I’m a job coach for a guy with Down Syndrome. His name is Sean. What I really like about working with Sean is that he now questions me on what I tell him to do. When he first started, he did whatever I told him to do, no matter if he understood the task or not. It was always, “Yes, ma’am.”
Now, he will come to my desk and say, “we have to talk.” We talk about the issue, it is resolved, and then he starts asking more questions. This tells me that he is more comfortable in his job and he is growing as a person!
