A disabled adult who has been deemed to be disabled before the age of 22, is eligible to receive Social Security benefits off a parent’s work record who is disabled, deceased, or collecting Social Security retirement benefits. Disabled Adult Child benefits (DAC) may offer more benefits to the person with disabilities than they are receiving from SSI or SSDI or a combination of both, off their own work record. The following presentation describes how the Social Security work record of parents of an adult disabled child, can positively impact the benefits the adult child is receiving.
